Aug 8, 50th Birthday Cake

by Jo Frost

Scuba Diver Birthday Cake

Scuba Diver birthday cake

It is a 50 birthday cake I did for a friend who loves to dive.

I used the cake mixes for cakes. The bottom was red velvet and the top was lemon.

I first full of layers and put strong refrigerate up.The top layer, was then cut at an angle, for what when the diver was at the top will show as he was diving into the treasure chest.

Layers were coated crumb and then covered with fondant aqua blue-tinted.Fondant ball came around the edge of each layer to finish.

Fish and shellfish, as well as the head, feet and tank of the diver became Leaf.Cuando candy put them in the microwave to soften a consistency of mass of the work and you and them mould and give shape to the figures that desea.Esto also is true with Tootsie Rolls and used for the treasure chest and the start of this easy-to-fact. to save a lot of different batches of fondant tint.

The rock is made of grey fondant, brushed with a little black to add dimension to ella.Las red plants were red that cut and avivado licorice.

I've covered plate with graham, breadcrumbs so it would look like sand.

It was very fun to do and everybody seemed to enjoy it.

From the editor:

HI Jo,

August 2, the problem with fondant drying and cracking

by Sandy
(Midlothian, VA)

Hello
I am trying to cover cars TEM and trucks for a birthday cake and the fondant is cured before they can get them covered. That I've got cover have begun to crack. What is there anything I can do to evitarlo.El fondant I'm using is the fondant boxed Wilton, really has no time to make my propio.Se would appreciate any help with this.?

Sandy

From the editor:

Hi sandy,

Here are a couple tips that may help:

1. Try to implanting the fondant between two sheets of paper of pergamino.Esto allows you not to use any sugar powder, which can help prevent the fondant drying.

2. Make sure really well knead the fondant. You can pop in the microwave to soften a little to get started, 10 seconds is good.

3 Soften a little shortening in areas that are of craqueo.Esto can help repair cracks that already has.

Good luck.

This was another replica of another friends cabin on the Lake.Rolled in a piece of gum paste made me "painting" with vodka and painted gel.He food coloring trees to make a subsequent fall in hand and placed it in a large bowl to dry, to give you some curve.

Cut two panels for the roof and four walls. Also I Corté doors and Windows templates I strong paper. I took a PIN and striped walls of gum to give an impression of wood before the dried pulp. Once the walls were dry, had been glued together with the Royal icing. I painted them with brown "paint".

Paste Windows, doors and the Royal cherry flower boxes. I did a shape square long snake and cut pieces that attached to the ends of the "records" to give a definition.

Had mixed two batches of fondant in two shades of blue. Rolled into "snakes" and placed on a white "snake".I had twisted together three and folded them in half.I had twisted them together and had repeated two or three times. came this to create a marble effect. Then hand painted in jack pine trees (is almost everything that grows here) around on the cake.

I've added chocolate candy rock, to hide the edges of the pasteles. He used a bit of ice to keep them in place.

The Board of cake was covered with left on fondant. The top level is a mixture of chocolate I modified cake and had added choc.chips.Odio using mixtures, but I was asked to make, because that person does not want to pay for a cake decente.puse cream chocolate butter in three layers and cover the cake in Ganache.

I like this guy, so I asked a coconut in the bottom with a (his favorite) Coconut cream cake cake. This is my fourth cake, I don't know where this talent and inspiration comes from but I'm loving every minute.I have time alone, away from children in the kitchen (oh, maybe that's it!)I hope you like.

From the editor:
